What exactly is Photoshop?

Photoshop is a handy application  that is used widely across the world for work in Graphics and Design. In my opinion,the best way to learn how to use Photoshop that i found was to make an effort to  understand the application.

Here's a brief understanding of the application:

Photoshop is a Raster based software application,this in short means that it is a pixel based program that handles raster files.

 Raster images are pixel based and therefore when resized do not preserve their quality as opposed to vector images that are not pixel dependant and therefore do not lose quality when resized.Understanding this was my first step before i actually started understanding how the program works.

Now that that's out of the way we can  get started...
